Ways You Can Improve Your Garden With These Simple Tips

What Plants Grow in a Terrarium?

Posted on May 13, 2021

Most people ask what plants grow in a terrarium? The answer is pretty simple, you can have plants in any form in a terrarium. The air-borne plants are plants that do not need soil to survive. These plants simply attach themselves to a living host for shelter. They absorb water by the leaves of the host plant. Air-borne plants are great for tropical terrain because they can tolerate low lighting conditions.

Air plants also are perfect for growing in a small space. They come in a variety of species and are easy to take care of. Some air plants may require some light in order to grow and mature properly. You will want to know how much light your particular plant requires so you will not over-water or under-feed it. In order to maintain a balance of nutrients in your plants you should fertilize them once every few weeks or two months depending on the type of plants you are growing. Fertilizing can be done by either buying liquid fertilizer from a store or applying a liquid fertilizer with a spray bottle and watering directly into the dirt.

You might also want to consider a small water garden. Water gardens are great for people with limited spaces because they can fit in any corner of the house. The trick is to properly water the water garden to make sure the roots remain healthy. A water garden can be a wonderful way to entertain guests since it is quite decorative and visually appealing. If you do not want to invest in a large tank you can use smaller containers like those used for fountains. These containers can easily be painted to match any decor and the added advantage of having the ability to mist your plants. You can purchase large plastic containers that fit inside a cooler box for these.

One of the most popular plant types in a terrarium is the cactus. Although the plants from a cactus are small they grow very large in size. It’s also very hardy and requires little maintenance if any at all. Other than regular water, you need to give the cactus a light misting once every few weeks. A misting bulb or a light will be the best way to mist the plants. You should avoid direct sunlight because this will cause the cactus roots to break down.

Your water garden can also include a lot of other types of plants. Many will require a bit of work but all should survive in most conditions. Some of the plants that will require a little work are the plants you see in nurseries. You can purchase them online as well as a kit.

There are a few other things to consider when you are looking for answers as to what plants grow in a terrarium. What kinds of lights and temperatures are needed? What kind of nutrients? How much light or water are required? What kinds of fish do you have and are they comfortable in the environment? When looking for answers as to what plants grow in a terrarium, try to find out all about your specific fish so you will know what to expect from them.
