Ways You Can Improve Your Garden With These Simple Tips

Why Are My Herbs Growing So Slowly? Quick Tips For Success

Posted on June 22, 2021

There are several reasons why your herb plants are growing so slowly. I am going to list a few of the most common problems I see with herb gardeners. Herb gardens can be very enjoyable once you get them started. But to make it even more fun, you have to do all the work first!

One of the biggest problems people have with herb gardening is over water. My first watering was because I didn’t read up on how much water to give to my plants. In fact, I didn’t even know that there was a correct amount to give. When my wife asked me how I was doing with the plants, I honestly said that I didn’t know. I usually water my herbs twice a week and I’m pretty sure I did the right thing.

Another problem is that I often give my plants too much water. This causes them to grow much faster than they should. If you want to avoid this, you have to know how much water your plants need. I only give them as much water as they ask for. I also make sure I use organic water when watering and never give tap water to them.

My third biggest problem with herb gardening is I sometimes plant the wrong herb. For example, I always planted mint in my herb garden. And guess what? All the other mints grew big and tall while mine kept lying on the ground!

I don’t really worry about the type of herbs I plant. I just make sure I plant the right ones. If I plant the wrong kind of herbs, I can’t do anything about it. I have to remember that each herb needs a different temperature in order to grow properly. I have to make sure I’m taking care of each plant accordingly. But I don’t really take much notice of these little things unless my herbs start acting weird.

I once had a plant that was growing really slowly. It took about two weeks before it finally died. And if I didn’t check on it regularly, I might have ended up killing it when I cut it open. But luckily I was able to fix that problem by making sure I had all the right ingredients to quicken the growth of my other herbs.

In fact, one of the main reasons I notice my herbs growing so slowly is because I don’t have enough of them. When I started growing herbs I only had a few but after a while I had a whole garden. Now I’m constantly adding more herbs to my garden. Sometimes I even have to wait for a plant to grow before I can add it. With my growing method, I only get a certain amount each month. If I don’t, then it’s hard for me to keep up with all the gardening I need to do.

I recently added some cilantro and Rosemary to my herb growing area. These two plants are taking over my herb garden and I can hardly walk around without getting these two plants in my way. They are getting so big now that it’s almost impossible for me to get through my plants. This is one way I can easily correct my growing problems. So I’m always in a hurry fixing problems like these.

Another reason why my herbs are growing so slowly is because I don’t water them often enough. This might sound like a stupid thing to worry about because I keep talking about the importance of watering your herbs but it really isn’t. Most herbs will actually die if you don’t water them. If you don’t get the soil moistened then you’ll never have a nice healthy plant and your herbs will die from this very simple problem. So I make sure I water my herbs every couple days.

It’s also a very good idea to mulch your herbs. This is a good idea if you live in a dry climate. Mulching will help protect your herbs and it will also help keep the soil moist, which is something your herbs need to stay healthy. Just be careful when mulching to only use the grass clippings and not the leaves or stems.

Now that I’ve gone over a few of the reasons why my herb gardening isn’t what I’m used to, hopefully you’ll be much more successful with your herb garden. Always remember to water your herbs properly and to feed them. Once you do those two things you shouldn’t have any problems growing your herbs.
