Ways You Can Improve Your Garden With These Simple Tips

The Herb Cape Sundew

Posted on August 8, 2021

The Cape Sundew plant is a small flowering plant that is well known for it large, star-shaped flowers that grow in clusters. These flowers look like small candles and are quite spectacular in their shape and beauty. Because of these flowers and it’s attractiveness the Cape Sundew plant has become very popular as a houseplant.

Many people are wondering exactly how these plants manage to look so appealing when they grow in such a small container. Actually the flowers that come out are borne on by a special type of fungus called Drosera capensis which is found naturally growing in the colder parts of South Africa. Once these fungi are taken care of them remain dormant until the temperature drops enough to allow them to sprout. When the temperature does rise these spores are released into the air and land back on earth where they find a suitable place to germinate and start to grow back again.

So, it is pretty amazing that the plant can be grown in such a limited space. The beauty of the flowers is also thanks to the way the plant grows. Unlike most carnivorous plants or herbs, the cape sundew plant is actually a vine and it uses its vines for support. It needs support because it is a tall growing plant and it needs the support to keep growing horizontally and upright.

The best thing about this plant is that it can grow just about everywhere that you might live. It likes to grow in well drained soil and it prefers acidic or basic pH levels. This means that you do not necessarily have to worry too much about making sure that the soil is perfect. You only need to make sure that it has good drainage. Once you have taken care of those two things then you should have no problems with growing carnivorous plants.

One of the most interesting things about this herb is that it can produce both the leaves and the herb itself. This means that you can harvest the leaves and use them as a tea. That’s right, it is a natural herbal tea. There are many recipes available online. The best part about making a tea using the leaves is that the flavor is pretty much the same as what you would get from a standard tea made from an herb. It is a very popular tea that is enjoyed by many people all over the world.

When you pick the herb’s leaves off of the plant, you should be able to get most of the herb with only a little bit of left over. All you need to do is separate the leaves into smaller pieces. Then you will want to add the dried herb’s powder into your mixtures or shakes. This way you will be able to create a customized blend that you will enjoy drinking.
